In a recent Q&A on Halo Waypoint, a few lucky fans got their questions answered by 343 Industries studio head Josh Holmes. Some questions specifically regarding how the REQ system will work in Halo 5: Guardians and how 343 will deal with those who abuse this system. Players who are able to buy REQ packs with cash rather than earning them in-game is something that has bothered a great portion of the Halo community.
Holmes replied to the questions by explaing how the REQ system will work in Guardians. The developer stated that everybody will start at REQ Level 1 at the beginning of each and every match. Players gain levels based upon their actions in the game. “Capturing bases, killing AI, taking out AI Bosses and killing enemy players will help you level up within the match. The higher your REQ Level, the more energy you can store and use to deploy REQs.” Holmes said.
Holmes then added that the more powerful the REQ, the more energy it will take to deploy it. Players gain energy over time, and get bonuses when they advance to a higher level. Holmes said that all of these systems are in place in order to cease others players habits of paying to win.
